Here are a couple of chapters (Chapters 2 and 3, specifically) from John Strausbaugh’s Black Like You: Blackface, Whiteface, Insult & Imitation in American Popular Culture:

We won’t be discussing it until April 5th/7th, but it would be good if you could at least read Chapter 2 (or, at the very least, part of it) before our screening of Spike Lee’s Bamboozled on Thursday, 31 March.

Remember to bring your USB to class: I think Bamboozled is the kind of movie you need to see more than once to really “get” enough to link it to the readings.
