Here is some advice about how to get the most out of this blog.
Don’t use emoticons like ^^ or ^^;; or *^^*. Don’t use Western emoticons like or or :p either. Don’t write the way you would write if you were in a chat room, for example writing kkk or ㅋㅋㅋ or hahaha to indicate that something is funny. Do use sentences to express your reactions to things, by writing, “That’s really funny!”
Don’t use Korean text as long as you can help it. This site is for you to practice your English writing, and you can use Korean for the rest of your day, but please don’t use it here. Do use new words and structures, and do feel free to experiment. Making mistakes is alright, and better for your learning than playing it safe all the time.
Don’t spend all your time worrying about what people might think or write in the comments. Write about what you want to write about. Do read others’ comments on your posts, and try to learn from them, and even respond to them if you like.
Don’t tell people only negative things about their writing… even if you really don’t like what they’ve written, or disagree with them, or dislike them personally. Do spend time reading other peoples’ posts and commenting, as your willingness to comment on others’ writing (and thereby help each other) will be factored into your grade for the blog portion of your homework.
Don’t stop posting or avoid posting here and expect a good grade in this class. Do keep up with posting and try to find interesting things to write about on the blog.
Don’t be shy to comment about the writing of people you don’t know. Do be gentle to those people, because they have feelings too.
Don’t be embarrassed when someone else points out your writing mistakes. Do thank them and try to learn from the mistake.
Don’t think of this blog as boring homework. Do try to have fun and make it interesting for one another.
