Elementary Composition – Night

In the past, zoos were places where we saw single animals in small and empty cages. However, today zoos are changing in their design. Animals have more space, and some live in groups. Many zoos try to put animals in an environment that is similar to where they live in the wild. Some people who believe animals’ rights argue against having zoos, because they think it is wrong to put animals in cages. However, I support the idea of having zoos, because they allow us to see wild animals that we cannot see otherwise, and they help endangered species from becoming extinct. Zoos have valuable roles to play. They have an educational role and help to preserve certain species. It is important for animals to be treated well and kept in an environment which is as natural as possible. Many zoos today are responding to their critics and changing the way they keep animals so that they can continue their role without harming animals.

The left and right sides of the face are quite different. Each side shows different aspects of our personality. First, the left side of the face reveals the instinctive and hereditary aspects of our personality. When we are under stress, for example, with feelings like fear, anger, or even intense happiness, force is put on the muscles of the left side of the face. When we examine the left side of the face, our well-being and troubles show up more. For instance, wrinkles on this side show the strong emotions we have experienced in our lives. On the other hand, the right side of the face reflects our intelligence and self-control. This side of the face is usually more relaxed and smoother. That is why movie stars prefer to have this side of their face photographed.

Like other countries, Japan has its own strict rules for table manners. These rules date back to the sixteenth century when the Ogasawara system of manners was developed. With the creation of this system, table manners reached an art form. These rules involve how the food is served, how the chopsticks are handled, and the order in which the foods are eaten.

Color can affect our body. Violet is a color that affects the bones in the body and can be used to heal the pain of arthritis. Gold helps awaken a body’s own healing energy. Blue clears the mind, and aqua is cooling and can ease fever.

Your color tells your personality. If your favorite color is white, you are probably very moral and sometimes have old-fashioned ideas about romance. People who like red, on the other hand, want excitement, variety, and change and are often more interested in passion than true love. Pink lovers are warm and understanding people who believe in loyalty and make good mates. Those who like the color blue are emotional and romantic and need lots of attention from their partners.

Writing has a great power. We can communicate thoughts, information, and feelings with one another through writing. We can whisper sweet nothings by love letters, and we can express the appreciation. Besides, we can get a lot of knowledge through newspapers, books, and many other things. There is no exaggeration to say that we cannot live even a day without writing.

There are some reasons that everyone should have a pet. First of all, if a person raises a pet, one can know that an animal also has feelings and thoughts like human beings. It knows how his or her feeling is and if he or she wants it. Second, it is helpful especially for children to learn the value of life. Some people might say they do not like pets, but it is because they have little experience with pets. Would they have any rejection if they would have lived or spent much time with pets? Once a person spends joyful time with a pet, one will come to realize that it will be a tonic in a desolate life.

Eating juicy taco is not easy-it requires following specific directions. First, you must be sure you are wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Eating taco while you are wearing an expensive silk blouse is not a smart idea. The next thing that you should do is to decide if you want to eat the taco alone or in front of others. Eating taco in front of someone you do not know very well, such as a new date, can be embarrassing. The last step is to plan your attack! It is a good idea to pick up the taco gently and carefully keep it in a horizontal position. As you raise the taco, slowly turn your head toward it and position your head at a twenty-degree angle. The last step is to put the corner of the taco in your mouth and bite. By following these simple directions, eating taco can be a pleasant experience.

Women become beautiful when they fall in love. If someone looks more beautiful than usual, people say, “You look gorgeous. Are you in love?” They usually say it half in joke, but it does have a scientific reasons. First of all, when a woman falls in love, dopamine causes chemical action in the cerebrum. It makes her feel happy, and she laughs. Second, when she laughs, endorphin is made in the body. It helps lower the level of stress. Because the body feels less stress, she becomes carefree. Then she can have a high metabolism because toxin from stress has been reduced. Plus, a high metabolism makes her skin smooth, soft, and fair. Finally, a woman makes every effort to look beautiful to her boyfriend. She cares a lot about her fashion, makeup, and even manner. All those changes of inside and outside of her cannot help making her beautiful.

Many Korean people don’t like cats, and I am the one of them. Just looking at them is scary enough for me because of their eyes. They are grim and acute because they glitter like tigers’ eyes. Plus, meow sound makes my blood run cold. Especially wild cats’ snarl is similar to a baby cry, so I am seized with fear. Furthermore, cats are offensive and aggressive. Sometimes they scratch people with the sharp claws when they are threatened. Wild cats often overturn garbage cans at night to get food. Cats are helpful to get rid of rats, but making mess with the smelly and unsanitary garbage rather put rats together. Cats aren’t good friends to people but trouble makers.

When I visited Africa 30 years ago, the whole continent was just a primitive nature itself. I was very surprised because African children played with diamonds. People didn’t wear diamonds because they didn’t even know how diamonds were valuable. Plus, a preventive injection wasn’t popular, so Malaria spread easily. What was worse, there were a lot of wild animals everywhere. I heard tigers attacked people many times, so I was very careful to prevent the horrible situation. However, it really happened. One day I was sleeping at night on my own with a window open. Suddenly I felt something heavy and violent on me. I soon realized it wasn’t a tiger. The snarling sound was different from tiger’s because it was a lion! I fought with it desperately for my life. I stabbed the lion in the throat and the back with a dagger. When I recovered consciousness I was covered all over with wounds in a hospital.

This is a place I like the most. From the door there is a black bookshelf, a black and white desk, and a blue chair. The bookshelf is on the right corner touching the two walls and facing the door. The long side of the desk touches the right side wall of the door. The chair lies near the desk. The left side of the desk touches the middle of the shelf. There is a white bed on the opposite side of the desk. It is on the other corner also touching the two walls. The long side of the bed touches the left side wall of the door. Pink bed sheets and two pink pillows are on the bed. A built-in wardrobe is on the same wall of the door facing the bed. There is a window between the shelf and the bed. The door, the window frame, and the wardrobe is all white. The walls are ivory, and the floor is brown.

This is a place that I often visit with my friends. It is small and surrounded by big glass windows on two sides. There are two long tables and some stools along the two glass windows. There are some tables and chairs in the middle of the shop, and the counter is opposite to the door. On the right of the door there are pink shelves to display many different kinds of donuts. Menu board is hung on the top of the wall beyond the counter, and a fridge is on the left of the counter. The whole shop is decorated with colorful tiles.

I have an older brother. I feel him like my second parent because he always teaches me what good and bad things are. Since the very first of my life I have got a lot of help from him whenever I needed, so I can’t imagine my life without him. Besides, he takes the initiative in everything to give me good examples. Because he always tries to lead me to a good way in my life, not only do I love him but also do I pay my respect to him.

Han A has an unusual friend whose name is Na Rae, and she is one of Han A’s high school friends. Her character is quite strange. For example, when Han A met her for the first time, she introduced herself with her dream which was to die. Plus, her on-line nickname and ID was “son of dark.” However, she seems normal in some respects. For instance, she gets along with many friends, and she has a good sense of humor.

My partner has blue eyes and brown hair. He looks definitely different from others in our class. He is heavy and average in height. His hair is short, and he is wearing small black glasses. Plus, he is wearing a small round Indian style earring on his left ear. His face is hairy with beard and mustache, and his lips are small and thin. He is in a blue dress shirt and dark grey stripe pants.

Ingredients: 4 separated eggs, 1/2 cup of sugar, a half cup of ground almond, 4 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, a tablespoon of melted butter, a teaspoon of baking powder, 1/3 cup of chocolate chips

First, mix the softened butter with half of the prepared sugar in a bowl until it becomes white. Add an egg yolk at a time and mix well. Second, add ground almond, cocoa powder and baking soda in the bowl. Third, in another bowl whisk the eggs whites until it gets stiff. Gradually add the remaining sugar and whisk well. Fourth, gently add the egg whites into the prepared chocolate mixture. Next, put the chocolate chips in it and mix. After that, grease muffin tins with butter, and pour the mixture in the tins. Finally, put the tins in the oven, and bake at 350 degrees Celsius for about 35 minutes until it turns brown.

Ingredients: a cup of flour, an egg, 1/3 cup of milk, a little bit of ground black pepper, salt, sugar, a green pepper, an onion, a small bunch of mushrooms, some tomato sauce, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, a cup of chopped mozzarella, a tablespoon of peas and corns each, some bacon and ham, a fully boiled sweet potato

First, make dough with prepared flour and water. Put an egg and milk. Add a little bit of salt and sugar in it. Second, remove seeds inside of the green pepper and slice it. Slice mushrooms and chop an onion. Cut bacon and ham into small pieces. Third, peel the boiled sweet potato and mash it. Then make the dough flat and round. After that, grease a round pan with olive oil, and put the dough on it. Sixth, spread some tomato sauce on the dough, and put the prepared vegetables, peas, corns, bacon and ham. Next, put mash sweet potato in a plastic bag and slit a corner of it for squeezing. Squeeze it on the dough in a circle. Then cover the dough with plenty mozzarella. Finally, put the pan in the oven. Bake it at 220 degrees Celsius for about five minutes until it turns yellowy brown.

Some people drink instant coffee habitually, but I have several reasons to drink it. I drink coffee like a dessert after meal to take away the aftertaste. Its bitter taste helps killing bad breath. Besides, coffee has caffeine in it, so it is helpful to be awake. During exam periods, I usually drink 2-3 cups of coffee every day to keep myself awake. Plus, coffee is a good atmosphere maker for killing time and chatting with someone. I feel comfortable when I have a cup of coffee, so I can relax and talk in a comfortable atmosphere. Those are the reasons why I enjoy instant coffee.

Many people think having much rice is better than having meat or oily food because rice is grain and not caloric. A lot of rice makes you feel full so that you do not want to eat anymore. However, too much rice is not good for health or diet, either. If you have too much rice, either can not you eat other things nor do you get enough nutrition from side dishes or between meals. A too high-carbohydrate diet could cause diabetes, too. Plus, if you are on the way of reducing weight, it is much better to have protein with fibers rather than much carbohydrate. Some rice with other various foods is good for health, but too much rice could not be healthy for body.

People prefer different types of rice even in Asia, but Korean is the best. Korean rice contains so much gluten which makes it very sticky after it is boiled. The gluten makes rice gather together and look glossy and delicious. Vietnamese and Indian one has little gluten in it, so the rice is not gathered after boiling. Besides, it does not give you much satiation than Korean one, so you get to eat more and more. While Korean rice is sticky enough to make other food of rice such as rice cake and rice soup, none or less sticky one is only good for boiling. Because of those reasons and many others, Korean rice is the best.

English should be an official language in Korea. These days, it is very common to go abroad to study English. Not only English-major students but others withdraw from universities temporarily and go to English speaking countries even though they do not use English daily in Korea. It is because of getting jobs. Even if a person never speaks or writes in English at work, one must be good at English to get a high salary. For this reason, parents of young children are eager to teach their children English even before they can fully speak Korean. Some children from fortunate homes even leave for English speaking countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia to learn English like their mother tongue. It is because of the fact that a person can have any kinds of respectable jobs if one can use English skills just like natives. To solve this irony, Korean government has to decide to accept English as another official language in Korea, so that people can save lots of money to learn English abroad. Plus, the government can attract millions of people from all over the world to domestic English education market as other English speaking countries do. Korean people and companies will be able to advertise themselves to foreigners more broadly and easily than before, so that they can attract numerous tourists and buyers to Korea. Many Koreans will be able to communicate in English with people from different countries, and many people can have jobs out of Korea. Then naturally the unemployment rate will dramatically decease. For a lot of causes and effects English has to become another official language in Korea.

A few weeks ago, famous Korean comedian Kim Hyung Kon passed away while he was working out at a fitness club. It was very surprising to everyone because he was only 49. Some years ago, he was extremely overweighed more than 120 kilograms, but he lost weight by about 90 kilograms. It was said that he was still on a diet. On that day he died, after he sweated a lot in sauna, he tried to exercise. Just soon after he ran on the running machine, he fell over and could not get up again. A reporter said it is dangerous to start exercise after sweating a lot. When a human body loses water a lot, blood becomes thicker and stickier. It makes difficult condition to the heart to pump up the thickened blood to all parts of body.

After I heard the news, I got scared. Actually, I go to a fitness club every day as well. I put 8 kilograms last year, and I will be on a diet until I lose all of it. However, I suddenly realized I need to take care of my health as well, not only fat. If I die because of too much exercise, it is absolutely useless. What could I do if I were not alive anymore? The news was just like an alarm to me. My mom always says to me, “Don’t work out too much. It’s never good for you.” I didn’t care about it that much, but I realized it could happen. Working out is for health, not death.

There is a Chinese proverb, “Let your child travel if you love him.” It means traveling can be a good lesson to a person. Traveling to new places could be dangerous and difficult, but it can be a great opportunity to learn that you cannot do in classroom. Of course, you can visit a lot of beatiful and historic tourist attractions, but it can give you more than that. If you are completely used to get everything from your parents, it is not easy to do all by yourself. In this respect, traveling teaches you how to lead a real life. During traveling, if a certain problem happens, you have to get the best solution by yourself or with your party. There might not be an advisor, or might be an obstructor. Plus, you need to plan on spending money because your budget is limited. Sometimes you would not be able to eat what you want, and you should put up with some inconveniences. While you go through the hardship, you would reach the limitation of controlling yourself several times. Through these process, you become a real adult, and that’s why traveling is worth it.

Almost all of Korean university students are eager to get a high score on TOEIC test. Regardless of what they study in universities or what they do at workplaces, it is the essential to get a job. Even though many of them are not using English ever after they get jobs, a lot of companies want people who have high TOEIC scores. The extreme case is that some companies select people in the order of a TOEIC score only. It is obviously time and money wasting for the job seekers because they all have to study for the TOEIC test. Besides, it is easy for the company to lose a person with specialiized skills because of the score. It has become worse since the whole world got more globalized and the total economy of Korea waned. What is worse, it is still going on, and it will get worse and worse until there are enough jobs for everyone.

People drink so much alcohol because of themselves as well as others. People sometimes get drunken when they are depressed. Perhaps many people agree that alcohol could comfort and sympathize with them like a good friend. In the mean time, people often drink for social life as well. Some of them want their friends to drink as much as they do even if the friends do not feel like it. And the friends do not want to or are not able to ignore the peer pressure, either. Plus, others want to enjoy cheerful atmosphere at parties, or they have to drink because they are at the parties.
