Using body language.

Imagine that you are in a foreign country. You don’t know what they say, you don’t understand their language. At this time what will you do? Maybe you will try to use your body as much as you can. Using your body, which is called body language, could be a good method of communication, even though you can’t speak at all. However, you should be careful using body language because it has a different meaning in some countries. Therefore, let’s have a look at some body labguage which has several different meanings, especially using hands.

* Make a circle to use the thumb and the second finger – In Korea, it usually means “Money”. Sometimes it is positive but usually it is negative. In the South of France, it means ” Worthlessness”, but as you know, in the U.S.A and the West of Europe countries it means “Okay”

* rise up the thumb with clenching the fist – It has many different meaning and that’s a little bit weird for me bacause in Korea, it shows ” Very Good!”. However in Greece, it means ” Shut up!”. How can they make this strange body language? Also in Russia, it is a sign of ” Homosexual”

There is no doubt that body language is a very useful skill to communicate with. Nevertheless it’s not always the same in meaning so, you can make a mistake or the situation could get worse. For that reason, to correctly communicate, we should learn about other cultures. After that we can better communicate with foreigners. We have to a good opportunity to know that as well.
