My Language Habits
During studying Second Language Acquisition, I realize I have a fossilized habits to expression of English unintentionally. So I’d like to introduce my habits. I had some chances to talk with foreigners for a while. At that time, I usually used the expression, “maybe” in front of sentences, but I didn’t know it wasn’t wrong because nobody corrected it. And then, one day, my friend said to me, “Why do you usually use ‘maybe?” It sounds strange. I think you’d better use “could or might” instead of “maybe.” In truth, I felt confused because I thought I spoke a little bit well more than her, however, I made very easy one. My habits resulted from fossilization through the class, but I got the cognitive feedback from my friend and I could correct my mistakes. Besides, I usually spoke, ” I went to there,” or “it is near to here.” Truly, I knew it was wrong, but it was difficult to correct because it was already fossilization. I was already used to speaking it, however, I knew my errors, so I try to correct it these days.
I want to break my fossilization also.
I usually use ‘in plain’ a lot.
