Today, I want to talk about the Hilton Hotel. Hotel king, Conrad Hilton was an actor. He performed with his team in Texas, but people weren’t interested in his play. He became very poor, and, weather was getting cold. He has no place to live. Life was so hard to him, so he went to church and prayed, “God, where could I live in?�? He got wisdom, when he was praying, which was that ‘Start a hotel business!’ He knew nothing about hotel, though, but, he started hotel business relying on God’s idea. So, he could build the biggest hotel in all time. The idea from God changed his life and fate. Everything is right. But, this big hotel’s successor Paris Hilton shows different life. Do you like fast food? At school bus stop, there is Mc Donald. When the 3000won sale first started, I enjoyed burger set. But, now I don’t usually eat burger. I think Mc Donald is western culture. So, they like fast food more than Korean. I heard that state’s size of burger set is larger than Korean’s fast food. American’s French fries is bigger in size and coke is also bigger than Korean. Is it related to westerner’s body shape? I think many western people are heavy in body shape. In Korea, there are also fat Koreans, but, I think heavy American is more common. I don’t want to give a fault or wrong about their body but I just want to say what I’ve observed. I think that in U.S they don’t care about their body shape much. They just accept what people look. I think they don’t care whether who’s fat or not. Also, it is true that some westerner’s body is good, who try to work out to make their body. So, body shape is related to food culture and lifestyle.

I heard many American students do something to earn money. When they turn 18, many students became independent from parents. So they do many part time jobs. Some boys mow a lawn, wash the dishes and work in supermarket. Some girls do baby sitting or work as a waitress. Earning their own money is common thing to them. And, some students make some food like cookies and bread. They go selling this door to door. They visit neighbor’s house and say like we are selling this would you please buy? And they spend this money going camp or something. In Korea, many students do part time job. Or, some students get pocket money from parents. In abroad, students apply for a student loan. They spend this loan money for school. And, when they get a job later, they could pay back money. Summer vacation is coming. Would you try something this summer? Earning money is valuable to us.

We can also meet them in high school, or even in private institute. I remember one English teacher who works in private academy. I think I was affected by him. He has energy and hope, And, he always try to give us that energy and hope. I think the absolute positive mind is needed to be a good teacher. We can also meet good teacher through a book. I also met one person through book. I could cheer up, reading his book. The book made me think why should I do my work and what is the purpose of my do, like that. Do you have a driver’s license? In America when the students turn to 15 years old they start to learn to drive. Also, they sign up for driving education academy. So many students get a driver’s license when they are sixteen years old. And, some students can drive their own car when they are sixteen. Even though they don’t have their own car they get driver’s license. In Korea, some student’s get a license; they don’t have a car though. But some people own a car. My friend has a car, he sometimes takes me up when we meet and go home. But I don’t have a driver’s license and I don’t think I need it now. I don’t have idea about car or driving.
