Do you like cat?
Do you like cat? someone answer “Yes” and somebody says “No”. I don’t like cat, rather I hate it. Have you ever seen cat’s eyes? Have you ever heard cat’s crying? It sounds like baby’s crying and makes me scared.
Traditionally, Koreans have been same idea of mine. They have been thought that cat was symbol of evil and had to avoid. In many tales, cat was appeared as a bad image like evil spirit which possess at human body. So they were harmful being that had to exorcise.
But In West, people have a different idea. Cat is appear good or bad images.
In acient Egypt, cat had a good image because Egyptian believed that cat could protect their grain from mouse. And even, cat was regarded to female god which have name ‘BASTET’.
European have been a good image about cat, too. for example, cat appear a good character like a story ‘Puss In Boots’. In Europe, cat is a great favorite being as a pet. They think cat is lovely, cute and affordable to grow at their house. In fact, these position of them is based on history.
In The Middle Age, there was big epidemic which named Plague. The black Plague was killed one- third whole European and then, they found out the factor of disease was ‘mouse’ . So they used cat to disappear mouse. And up to now, cat is loved by European so much as a pet except balck cat( they are regarded friend of witch).
Thousands of years, cat is related to superstition and beliefs but it’s a silly to endow meaning about cat. Cat is just animal like others. Although I hate cat because of their appearance and voice, I’ll try to throw out the idea.
