‘Mung-bean pancake’ and ‘Okonomiyaki’
I ate Korean ‘Mung-bean pancake’ and ‘Okonomiyaki’ of Japan.
These two foods are very resemblant.
These two foods are griddle food.
Griddle food makes kneading to flour and egg basically.
And various materials are added.
Vegetable or the meat, and marine products is added.
And the food eats with suitable sauce.
However, ‘Okonomiyaki’ is difference with ‘Mung-bean pancake’.
Japan is island country. So, there is much marine products.
Therefor, marine products of octopus, shrimp, squid, clam, green laver powder, a dired bonito etc. are included to ‘Okonomiyaki’.
The second World War influenced to ‘Okonomiyaki’.
After war, Japan was a shortage of food, and the UN helped flour in Japan.
So, Japan was generalized bread and griddle cooking, and because Western style sauces enter in Japan, present ‘Okonomiyaki’ was made.
The South Korea is peninsular.
And oil and marine products are precious.
Inland provinces people ate much herbs or vegetable than marine products.
So, Korean ‘Mung-bean pancake’ vegetable herbs add.
Green-bean sprouts, welsh onion, mushroom, red pepper etc. are included to ‘Mung-bean pancake’.
And soy sauce becomes sauce of ‘Mung-bean pancake’.
These two foods is many similar standpoint.
Some people assert that Korean ‘Pusan mung-bean pancake’ is origin of ‘Okonomiyaki’ of Japan.
These two foods are one of representative food of each country present, and each is catching popular popularity to unique taste.
