Skills that I Need to Learn in English Writing (with pharaphrasing)
It was the day after the English exam. When I first saw Da-eun, she was crying her heart out. I asked her why then she answered that she got 20 out of 100 for the exam. It was quite embarrassing because I got 10 out of 100, but still I could understand what she felt.
Anyway, that moment was when she changed a lot. She was shocked strongly and she began to study English very hard. Nine years after, she has got a lot of improvement than the past especially in English writing. I wondered how she studied so I asked her. “It was not easy.” she said seriously “But still there are effective ways to improve your writing skill.” She taught me several ways to study and here are brief summary. Â
First, using a huge range of vocabulary helps your writing interesting. Once, she felt boring when she read her paragraphs, she knew the problem was lack of English vocabulary. So, what she did was making lists of synonyms and antonyms and also those usage. She emphasized that it’s really important to know those usage because you can’t use what you remember if you don’t know it’s exact meaning. She memorized one or two words everyday and also she used her list when she wrote in English.
Secondly, writing with logical explanation of your opinion is important. It’s no doubt that one might feel uncomfortable when they use the second language so it’s more hard to write clearly and logically right. She also have had that problem so she made an outline out of well organized writing so that she can read well structured writing and also learn how they write at the same time. “Twice a week will be great.” she said.
Thirdly, more good at how to express what you feel, more easy to write good article. Many people say big hardness in English is to express what they feel or saw. Besides, expressing oneself must be the purpose of writing and all. Making your own scrapbook that you can collect articles or phrases which are including good expression was what helped her.Â
“I think that’s all.” She ended with slight smile around her lip. ”Really is that all?” I demended with some disappointment because I expected some kind of great miraculous methods.Â
But soon, I admitted that there is no miracle without efforts. I am sure she did her best to improve her English and that is what made her now. I kind of regret why I gave up at the same moment she got changed but still it’s not too late to start. I believe that today is the beginning of rest of my life.Â
