In English reading class last week, we talked about cheating. Main theme was how to eliminate cheating and there were many solutions. For example, computer test, written test, giving XF to cheaters to show that they’ve cheated, and many more.

After that class, I was little bit unhappy to that discussion. Because as the discussion goes on more strong and harsh punishment were rised as the solutions for cheating. Representative example is giving XF to cheaters. Main point of this system is because once a person got XF he/she can’t earase that, students will not cheat to afraid that. It was logical explanation and I also agree that XF will be strong warning.

However, I still don’t agree with XF. Because it deprives second chance. Think about if someone got XF. It will follow he/she forever and poeple will brand him/her as a cheater even though he/she already communed with himself/herself. It also affect him/her in getting job. Everybody can make mistake and everybody can be change but it seems people don’t believe this fact.

why? The answer to this question is that we are living in a ‘never ending competing world’. In our society there are always competition and it gets wrose and wrose. People think their friends as a competitors and that’s why they have desire to leave cheater, who commit once, as a cheater forever to reduce the number of competitors.

I know that cheating skills are improved with high technology and it’s getting harder to catch cheaters. However, what’s more dangerous is that our thought is also getting more cruel. Preventing cheating and give cheaters punishment is important in terms of protecting school spirit. But also we should be very carefull not to lose our trust for others.
