Gandhi School-1
Have you ever heard about Gandhi School? Every time I asked this question people always say “Is it in India?” haha No it isn’t.Gandhi School is one of alternative schools in Korea where I spent 6 years for middle school and high school. I guess there are many people who still have no idea. For those people, I will explain part of my school.
As you can guess in its name, Gandhi school follow Gandhi’s philosophy, non-violence and disobedience. In the school, any kind of violence is prohibited including physical punishment. Also, it goes against university entrance exam focused education which is performed in public middle school and high school. In this school nobody teach you how to get good score in the university entrance exam. So, what they learn?
Basically, Gandhi School students learn what they want. There are some classes they have to attend, but except that they choose what they want to learn at beginning of each semester like we do in university. There is variety of classes, from cooking class to human rights class. I remember that there was herb class in which students grow herbs and harvest them at the end of the class.
To be continue.
It’s interesting story~
