Yesterday, I saw the article related to punishment of sexual criminals. People were trying to open their informations to the public. Of course, there are other people who don’t agree with it due to the matters of human right. I fully understand the both sides.

          If I am a victim or family members of victims, I could ask poilce to publicize their history for them not to commit that kind of crime again. However, what about criminals? Some of them might want to live a new life. What if their publicized criminal records make them unable to live normal lives? (This doesn’t apply to serial criminals) This problem is the crash of two moral values. One is the protection of privacy. The other is protection of citizens from dangerous crime.

          I don’t think opening informaions is a good idea. I am not saying that the human rights of criminals are first but it will not going to work. Do you think sexual assault and rapes will disappear if we let the public who sexual ciminals are? No, I don’t think so. Some people will still commit crimes. Moreover, there could be more crimes. Maybe innocent citizens would try to judge criminals be themselves. What are you gonna say about this problem?

Maybe these days kids don’t know who is BSB, or N Sync or some other pop stars.

but these pop singers were super famous when I was early teenager.

Have you ever heard about John Titor?
He is a american soilder and claims to come from 2036.
This guy wrote some forecasts of the future on websites in 2000 and returned to his future in 2001.
People say he was correct and he will continue to be correct.
These days there is a big issue with China and Tibet and therefore people think Olympics could be canceled as he forecasted.
Then, if he is correct, people would worry about if World War 3 occurrs because of his forecasts.
We can not confirm if future accidents could happen, and It sounds silly that we should to believe.
But what if really Olympics cancel? In history, it never happened before.
I think I worry some. What is your opinion?

Do you remember the salesman who sung a vocal music? After I watched him in our class, I was so impressed by him that I couldn’t forget him.

 Recently, I found an advertisements that publicizes the concert of Paul Potts in Korea. It’s kind of surprising that he will hold a world tour concert since he was a salesmen in 2007. He became a worldwide vocalist in one year!! What he would do, if he didn’t challenge “Britain’s Got Talent”? I believe that the program really helped him to attain what he wanted to be. Though he suffered from many difficulties in his life to make his dream come true, he wouldn’t be able to be a vocalist with his talent. Of course, the program was a kind of helper that brought up the good result from trials of his life, but the helper was essential for the success.

 Everybody say that television has lots of disadvantages. Nevertheless, television also has advantages and the advantages lead some people to reversal of life as Paul potts experienced. Paul potts made me to think about strong points that mass media have. The thing seems impossible can be possible through mass media. Have you thought about the good points of mass media? what are they?

  My father came home from his business trip with fabulous DVD. He was in hurry because he was so excited to show and play this DVD for my family. It was about Celtic Woman’s concert happened in outside in Ireland. Among 24 songs, I found ‘Over the rainbow’. His favouirte is ‘You raise me up’. Five vocalists and one violin performer look like angels. I got goose bump ~ In addition, the atmosphere with people listeing and enjoying their musics makes me feel happy. I got the feeling like I was there during watching it from the beginning to the end. Why don’t you try?

Plus, another versin was introduced to me last winter. When I worked for a company as an intern in Cananda, I used to play my favourite songs before my boss comes every morning.  One day, when she listened to ‘Over the rainbow’, she strongly recommended me to google another version that she loves the most. It’s performed by Isarael Kamakawiwo ‘ole who’s from Hawaii. He is very well known Hawaiian native artist and still remains in many people’s heart. He’s dead in 1997 but his voice and this song, sang with ‘what a wonderful world’ at the same time, is the most popular one. Here is it!!

CAUTION : This essay can be a spoiler so whoever will watch this movie, don’t read!

   This is a movie directed by Korean director Lee, Ji-ho who is a husband of Korean actress, Kim Min. After watching this movie, two things came into my head. One is what the title of this movie means. The other is the identitiy of this movie.

   First, there are 4 emotions in this movie and they are happy, pleasure, sorrow and love. In the end of this movie, we can find that 4 different stories are connected to each other. That means 4 feelings – happy, pleasure, sorrow, love – are not seperated eventually. We sometimes think that being sad is differnt from being happy but this movie tells us that eveythings are connected. Therefore, the title of this movie has significant meaning, which “The Air I breathe” is “The Air you breathe” and “The Air we breahte”.  I wonder what you think. Do you agree with the idea that everythings are connected?

   Second, I’m not sure if we can say this is Korean movie or not. Even though the director of this movie is Korean and the scenario is written by Korean, actors and actress in this  movie are still Americans. Moreover, in this movie, there’s somthing that we can feel Korean. I don’t know exactly what are they but I could definitely feel something is different from just Hollywood movies. I wish to know how the identity of movie is determined and what factors make Korean moviea Korean things.   What do you say about this?

   There are many movies directed by Korean. Nevertheless the reason why I particulary focus on this one is because we can not find anything directly related to Korea in this movie unlike the other one such as “The War” directed by Shim, Hyung-rae. In “The War”, people are talking about Korean history but in “The Air I breate”, we can not hear any talking about Korea at all. Still, we can feel something about Korean. That’s exactly what I want to figure out. I’d like you to watch this movie and answer to my questions above.

Have you thought about advertisement having an effect on our lives? Do you think it is good or bad? I want to tell you two opposite aspects of advertisements.

        First of all, advertisements are troublesome in our life. We are living with evil friends who always allure us. It is advertisements. Whenever we are outside, check our email, and wherever, we always can see advertisement. Whenever I serf the internet, I spend lots of times on looking at advertisements because of their allure. Finally, I find that watching them brings me a waste of time. Therefore, I should find a way to protect my eyes from advertisement’s temptation.            

          However, advertisements are sometimes useful in contrast of the words I mentioned above. We can find useful information from advertisements. For example, we can involve in competitions through posters attached to the wall in our college for our career. Furthermore, whenever we need to buy something, we can be helped easily by attractive commercial advertisements. Therefore, whenever advertisement helps me, I regard the one as good friend to me.

          Finally, advertisements have controversial face to me. It is not only bothersome friend, but also lovely friend. I believe it is up to us. In other words, if we use advertisements in a good way, it is useful to us. However, if you are tempted by advertisements, you are deprived of your precious time. How do you think about advertisements? Is it your good or bad friend?.

Did you vote yesterday? The rate of participation was the lowest ever. I’m so sorry to hear this. I read newsparer this morning and many people who didn’t vote yesterday said they don’t have any idea about candidates. However, if we are interested in it or if we concern our country, we can see there are lots and lots of publish materials around you.

Here is what I want you to think. For few weeks we could see and hear loud, sometimes noisy street election campaigns eventhough we did not really want to see and hear. I don’t think it’s effective way. It bothered me and was annoying. Even today, this morning , elected people are still saying something to appreciate. Plus, people who failed keep saying something too because they want to thank to their supporters. However, I am living in apartment complex so I can’t hear what they are saying.  What I could recognized was aecho, murmuring. Do you think it’s good idea to let people know them?? 

To the Koreans, rice is very important crop. That’s why Koreans on the negative point of view about the FTA.

Koreans have been eaten steamed-rice for a long time. So the rice is called staple food in Korea. Once, I have the chance to chat with a student from Uzbekistan and talked about the rice and the Uruguay Round. During the long time, he can’t understand why Koreans don’t want to open the rice market. He said that Koreans can eat other food like hamburger or bread instead of the rice.

But this can be totally different interpretation as a Korean. We eat rice at least once a day. Adults usually say that they feel comfortable and full when they have the meal with the rice. Foreigner can’t easily understand this culture, I know.

The rice and kimchi cannot be apart from us.

   Yesterday, I read about a combined dormitory which became operative in some areas in United States. I was very surprised when I found this article because it is unconceivable thing in Korea, a conservative country. However, the situation was same in America and many Americans have different opinions about that.

   Some people agree with a combined dormitory. They insist that the right of gays be protected. According to article many gay students are having a great difficulties living in a dorm with their male friends and many of them want to share room with female friends or live alone.

   On the other hand, some people disagree with this idea. They believe that a new policy will cause serious sex problems like Teen’s pregnancy, unmarried mothers abandoned children. In addition, they are also saying that there are possibilities for many immature students to have wrong sex morality.

   In my point of view, a combined dormitory policy is too early to be operated. Though many university students might insist that they can control their lives, still many people have a tendency to make mistakes when they are given freedom. I’m not saying that this system is wrong. I’m just telling you that we should think one more time if there are serious side effects.
