Kim-bob

Uncategorized — nami on June 12, 2006 at 1:46 am

Kim-bob is my favorite dish because the food is not only easy to make but also high nutritive value. There is a way to make Kim-bob. First of all, you have to get ready some materials for example dried seaweed  a suitable quantity of rice, sesame leaves, fried eggs, Japanese pickled radish, carrot and spinich. Then you have to cut each of them as some lenght of dried sea weed and you had better to spicy a suitable quantity of rice. After that, carrot and spinich have to fly on oil. Finally, the rice put wisely upword a dired seaweed, then arrange well some materials right above it, and rolling them. In addtion, it has a better taste to ganish with mixed tuna and mayonnaise if you have all of the materials, you can make easy Kim-bob during very short time. In German, there is a muchine to roll it as a Kom-bob, and I watched on TV. The appearance is similar to our Kom-bob, I think the taste is different clearly, because most of Korean believe that some food to make in person is more delicious than assembly-lined food.

During the last winter vacation, I spent my last few days in Anaheim and thoroughly enjoyed Disneyland, California Park and Universal Studies.  The weather was great.  And I was really glad to see King Kong there. if you ever get to see the sunset from Santa Monica beach you must do so because it is beautiful.
If you have not planned for your vacation yet, just go on the Internet and find some resonable packages and go to LA wearing the Reds to Go shirt.

annoying Mosquito

Uncategorized — mokhyun on June 12, 2006 at 1:35 am

I hate summer! These days I cannot sleep well because of the annoying tiny mosquitoes. I can bear just if it is itch, but when they make some sound around my ears, I can’t sleep. I always place a spray for mosquitoes beside me at night. 1 week ago, mosquito bit my eye. I wanted kill it right away. But I couldn’t find it. So, I just sat on the floor and closed my eyes. 30 seconds later, I could listen awful sound around me. I concentrated on the sound and clapped with my two hands rapidly. I got it.

Who Am I?

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 1:29 am

I am a person who enjoys activities. First of all, I like to go a mountain climbing. I often go to a mountain near my house with my father. When I reach the top of the mountain, I feel comfortable looking down at our neighborhood. And I like it because I can have long conversations with my father. We mainly talk about my school life, and he has become a good advisor to me. Second, I am fond of traveling. My favorite place is Chungpyoung. I often go there when I get stressed. It’s near Seoul, and I can get there easily. Also I can relax looking at the lake or enjoy many kinds of sports there; water skiing, riding a banana boat or a motorboat. Finally, I work out everyday at a fitness center near my home. It helps me relax and refresh my mind. Especially, I like to exercise with my friend because I can do it more joyously. When I exercise with my friend, I always feel like time has flown by. In conclusion, I’m an active person who likes doing various active things.

A House After a Big Party

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 1:28 am

It’s a birthday of my best friend’s son today, so we threw a big party for him at home. She invited all of his friends, and they have just left. We had a good time until a moment ago, but how there are so much needs to be cleaned up everywhere. The large window in the living room is stained with ketchup and crumbled cake. Her favorite white curtain is turned variegated colors; red, white, purple, etc. On the sofa, her son’s clothes and hats which his friends tried on are scattered in all directions. And the coffee table covered with lots of dolls, leftovers, bread crumbs, and cookies. In addition, someone spilled milk, and chocolate melted on the floor. His room is a pig sty. The bedding on his bed has come down to the floor. His desk is covered with empty snack bags, coca-cola cans and banana peels. The toys which was on his piano are all over the place in the room. In the kitchen, there is a pile of dirty dishes in the sink and on the table. There are also food stains and cookie crumbs everywhere. We should clean it all up now. We have to wash the dishes, clean up her son’s room and tidy up the whole house. Wives always wrestle with such a massive cleaning whenever finishing a big party in a house.

A generation gap

I used to have a stance that sometimes I don’t understand senior’s saying, and I was the youngest one wherever i go, whoever I touch. However, I knew now it’s over to me. I always meet high school students in an institute every weekends, I feel that it’s hard work to have a conversation with them. There are no any similar things within us. For example, when I talk about one of the most famous song, sometimes they don’t know about that. In addition, sometime I don’t understand their common words at all, so at that time our conversation is stop or pass another topic. Once, my family and my relatives with younger cousins and nephews got together at my house. Flankly speaking, I felt that the time with them was difficult and tough situation to me. I thought that as if I would became an adult  when I talked my cousins and nephews something. Time flies.

piano

Uncategorized — mokhyun on June 12, 2006 at 1:21 am

When I was young, I really hate to play the piano. However, my mom forced me to play the piano, because she wanted to play the piano when she was young. But it was very rare and expensve to afford it in Korea at that time. She told me that she decided to teach piano to her children, and it is me.My younger sister also did like me. My mom was very disappointed at us. Besides, we had to learn it at home because I ran away when I was going to the institute. I can’t play the piano now. But these days I regret so much that I was lazy. I envy my friend who play the piano in the church. Few days ago, I asked my mom that I can lean piano again. She said, just do it later with your own children.

Smoking in Public Places

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 1:21 am

For last 20 years, there have been lots of documents on banning smoking in public places. As the global trend of quitting smoking, non smokers have insisted their right to breath in clean air and be protected from smoking-related diseases. In our society, smokers are not allowed to light up in some special place such as hotel or airplane. And many companies offer special rewards to employees who successfully kick the habits, and they designate no-smoking zones in their building. In my opinion, even though many smokers don’t assent to these restrictions and insist that smoking is one’s liking, smoking shouldn’t be allowed in any public place.

The first and greatest reason to restrict smoking in public places is to protect health of people. The danger of second hand smoking has been proven so many times by scientific studies. According to a report in the New York Times, there are more than 6,000 cancer patients cause by second hand smoking per year. Also Dong-a Ilbo reported that about 3,000 indirect smokers have been passing away per year because of the lung cancer in America. Second, even a little bit of smoke can pollute a large area. While smoking, smoke and particles pollute the air and surroundings such as wallpapers and curtains. Also smoke from cigarette reduces work efficiency and deteriorates a conversation atmosphere. However, smokers insist that smoking calms their nervous, gives them confidence, and helps them cope with stress, boredom, unhappiness and other problems. This counters to the medical facts. Cigarette contains 4,000 chemicals, over 19 carcinogens constituents. Three main harmful substances in cigarette are carbon monoxide, tar, and nicotine. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas which is caused in car exhaust fumes and smoke from fire. It causes heart disease, hardening of the arteries and shortness of breath. Tar is a black substance that come from burning tobacco, and it causes lung and throat cancers. It also makes stain on teeth and finger. Nicotine is a drug. Each cigarette delivers about 6-8mg of nicotine. Nicotine makes the blood vessels become narrow, which affects blood pressure. In fact, smoking cannot help smoker’s relaxation.

In conclusion, smoking in public places should be banned for protecting the health of people, for preventing pollution of surroundings. I’m not against the smoking itself. But what I want to say is that public place is required to be shared with everyone, and everyone has the obligation to not to disturb anyone. Smoking is a matter of choice, but society has a responsibility to create an environment that makes it a difficult choice if it is harmful to others. Smoking is definitely harmful, so it should not be allowed in public places.

Australia

Australia is a great country to spend this vacation for three reasons. First of all, I hate cold winter, but Australia has opposite seasons from Korea. It is summer in December, so I can avoid cold there. In addition, Australia offers such perfect conditions for summer sports that I can enjoy various kinds of summer sports such as swimming, water skiing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Second, Australia has many beautiful beaches. From Melbourne to Cairns, the fabulous coastline continues. For instance, there are the Great Ocean Road in Melbourne, the Manly Beach and the Bondi Beach in Sydney, the Gold Coast, the Noosa Beach, the Rainbow Beach in Queensland State. Each beach has its own attraction, so even if visitors go to every beach, they will be impressed by different charms of each beach. Finally, there are many kinds of tourist attractions in Australia. For example, visitors can experience the desert. They can have a camping in the desert if they want. Also Australia has an excellent system of parks where visitors can observe nature. The wild animals live freely there without a wire net, so visitors can take a picture with animals such as Koalas and Kangaroos. In the Birdworld in Melbourne, visitors can see unusual birds such as speaking birds. Besides, there are many travel agencies in Australia, and they offer a lot of inexpensive and useful tour packages for visitors who are not familiar with  Australia. Indeed, Australia is a wonderful country where I want to spend this vacation.

Dogs are the best pets for several reasons.

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 1:10 am

There are various kinds of pets these days. In my opinion, dogs are the best pets for three reasons. First of all, they are friendly. Actually, I have two dogs in my house. They always greet me when I come back home. Even when I come back from a supermarket near my house, they greet me as they wag their tails. Their greetings encourage me when I’m tired from school works. In the mornings, they awake me. They jump into my bed and lick my hand or bark. It sometimes bothers me, but I think it’s better than mother’s shouting. And I like them waking me up because I feel as if they are my family, not animals. Second, they are intelligent. They snarl and bark when a stranger comes to my house. One day, when a doorbell didn’t work, my neighbor came into my home to give some food, but I didn’t notice that even though she was calling for us. However, my dogs were barking consistently. I thought it was strange that they were barking continuously like that, so I opened the door, and my neighbor was standing there. I felt bad about not answering her, but thanked God for giving me my dogs. And I was proud of my dogs from the thought that they could protect me from a stranger’s visit. But they don’t bark any time. They only bark when a stranger come to my house. In addition, they are so obedient that they stop barking when I say “stop it!” There is also an example about their intelligence. They are housebroken. If they are trained once, they must know where the proper place for

their toilet is. Finally, they are lovely. They make me happy when I’m gloomy. For instance, one dog brings a ball to me and waits until I throw it. When I throw it, they run to catch it. If one dog catches it, another tries to snatch it. We repeat it again and again. Meanwhile, I become happy. Sometimes they do a naughty thing like hiding my socks in their house. Then I scold them, and they pretend that they become sulky. They go to the corner and look at me with a sidelong glance lying on the ground. If I say “come here,” they rush to me. They are so cute and lovely. Therefore, for these reasons, I recommend dogs for the best pets. If you live with dogs, you’ll feel more energetic and happy.

My Mother’s Way to Spend Her Spare Time

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 1:08 am

My mother is a housewife, so she has more time than others who have jobs. She has various ways to enjoy her spare time. First, she likes to cook, and she is the best cook I know. She makes a nice dish every Sunday for our family. She goes to a cookingschool to learn how to make court food and bake bread. On the evenings when she goes to the school, we have a big dinner. We always expect it on those days. Second, she likes to decorate home. She enjoys doing a cross-stitch and a quilt. She has made curtains, our bedding, table covers, and dolls. They are quiet beautiful. She is house-proud, so she likes inviting her friends. She sometimes shows them how to do a cross-stitch or a quilt, and they do them together. Finally, she goes to a sports center. She enjoys swimming everyday. She wants all our family to work out everyday even by taking a walk. She always says health is the most important thing in our lives. But my father and my younger sister insist that a rest is the most important thing in their lives. I agree with my mom, so I go to a fitness center near my home. I want to swim with my mother, but it’s not easy to fit it into our time. Anyway, she is a wise woman who can spend her free time effectively and enjoy herself. I respect my mother and want to be a person who can enjoy my life like my mother.

Mimesis

In philosophy class, usually I  cannot understand about the context, because it’s really difficult. We read a book which is written by German philosophers, with pofessor. One day I got the context finally, and I want to talk about it, especially about love. Mimesis is the way that people treat other things. In the view of Mimesis, people have to love each other not to force one another something. We have to just love itself. I’m very confusing, because according to Mimesis I’ve never love someone. Maybe I love my parents and sister, but not boyfriends who I have met until now. I want to love sincerly.

Blood type and Trait

Uncategorized — nami on June 12, 2006 at 1:03 am

Many young woman believe some connection between someone’s blood type and trait, because almost all woman who stay with me always talk about it. Sometimes it seems to be fancy rumor, but I can find out some points of sameness through each person’s blood type in person. Especially, marital harmony in a couple is nearly settled wheather each blood type is well matched or not between man and woman. In my case, my all x-boy friends in my life had all same blood type.  Even though I can’t say perfect coincidence toward them,  there are several same characters to them. That’s not only my case, some my friends have all same experience. Furthermore, a meeting with people who have same blood type sometime takes place conflict a little bit, as well as sometimes  they can gain the sympathy to each other owing to have similar character. Actually, It’s not obvious theory, but I think that the connection between blood type and trait is authority somewhat.

I am planning to travel to japan this summer because I want to meet my japanese friend who I met in Australia. Her name is Yuko and lives in Tokyo now. We were in the same institute and got to know each other from a thai friend. Yuko looks like typical japanese. She has small black eyes and white skin. We have a special reason why we were close together. When we met at first, she said “annyounghaseyo?” I was surprised and glad to meet her. All interest she has is korea, and her dream is to be a flight attendant in korea. So she learn how to speak korean from me and other korean friends.  She can speak informal korean language.  Few days ago she sent me japanese presents and letter. I was so pleased  to get them. So, I decided to meet her during the vacation. I will have enjoyable and great time with her in Tokyo.

Drew, a hair dresser at Niko saw my picture, which kit sent him to show how terrible her hair was, and he suggested for me to become a hair model for his portfolio. I was lucky. I have never thougt about becoming a model, even am not interested in it. Anyhow I had a good chance to experience a famous hair salon and dressers thanks to my best roommate Kit.

Kit told me that I looked like an elegant lady of the 19th century when he got my hair in an up-do.

She was a little bit upset at me and finally she said she was upset because whenever she wanted to cook somthing for me I always said, “I am not going to.” I was so sorry, but it was a good day for me to find out how much she thought of me. She is the greatest roommate ever and I will never forget her. It’s so sad to say goodbye, but I have to. Tomorrow will be one of the most terrible days in my life.

mission impossible

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 12:35 am

Mission Impossible 3 was a good movie to kick off the summer, full of action, however lacking the strong and in-depth story the previous missions employed. From the beginning, you can quickly see that this movie has a much different feel to it when compared to the first two, it didnt have quite the same “mission impossible” feel to it, but that doesnt hurt the movie as you might think. The only problem with this movie is that it lacked the story line or even any real form of a story that was included in the first one, things are mentioned in this movie that you want to have more information on and such, but it never comes.

The story, however, does not hold the movie back in any sort of a strong way as it is covered up with a whole lot of action and the occasional comic relief. The visuals and special effects are what they must have spent most of their time with as they were no noticeable flaws on any of these action-packed scenes.

The acting was also suprisingly good for being more of a summer blockbuster type movie. Tom Cruise is a great action hero and portrays Ethan Hunt extremely well. I was also very happy that they brought Ving Rhames back for this movie, playing Luther, because he is always fun to watch. Phillip Seymour Hoffman, coming off his best actor award, showed his skills in this movie as he displayed a strong villain for Cruise to fight.

Poseidon

Uncategorized — hyojin on June 12, 2006 at 12:29 am

just got back from the 9:25 showing and I have to say I was pretty impressed. This was a fun, adventure movie that keeps you pretty much on the edge of your seat once the boat crashes. The acting sank not terrible but not great just right where it needs to be for an action flick. The visuals are great but they should be for a $160 million production budget. If you are questioning yourself about seeing this movie don’t go unless you were blown away by the previews but if not go see something else or save your money for The Da Vinci Code. But for the rest of you who liked the previews or the priginal round up your friends purchase extra large popcorn and have fun on this edge of you seat action/adventure!!!

I’ve attended the service for 19years and I joined many activities. However, I became lazy and I didn’t go to the service and activities for the youth.I just listened the sermon and came back home. When I was studing in Australia, I went to small korean churk like family. All members were very close and got along very well each other. I felt bit comfortable and enjoyed the service and worship activity  I liked listening and singing gaspels. so I joined the music group. There I resolved to participate in activities and be a sincere member. Since I came home, I went though the course for new members. Today is the day I can join music group. Our church has the system that new member should finish 4weeks bible course. I am very happy with my decision and I will enjoy the ccm worship much more than before.

Part-time job

I think various experiences like part-time job are really efficient and important thing in youth. Someone says that it’s great to get much more money easily, but I don’t agree with that somewhat. Some strong brave and powerful confidence come from diverse experiences, so I think that wheather the works have rough and hard problems or not, it’s more important to go through them when we are young. Even though I don’t have tremendous experiences yet, I have tried to touch the works as possible as l can. I worked at a governal research institute in order to assist a few reseachers for about 3 months. In there, I realized that the working environment is so comfortable and nice, so I decided to put my noses on the grindstone in order to work plesantly like the place. Also, when I worked at a family reataurant, I felt some real satisfaction and worth by offering services to my customers even though I was tired out during all day. Once, I worked at a store in a department store.  In there, I really enjoyed doing the works with company together as well as my employers. We can learn skills and knowledge related to the works, but we’re able to gain another lessons by working some relationship with another person.

when you meet a bad boss

We somtimes meet a bad boss, and it would be really stressful for everyone. I did some research for my business class and have some ideas to approach to the unwitting Bad Boss. First, you should tell him what you need from him in term of direction, feedback, and support. You have to be polite and focus on your needs. Telling the boss that he is a bad boss is counterpeoductive and won’t help you meet your goals. Make sure you lesten well and provide the needed assistance. Second, sometime it would be good to go to your boss’s manager and ask for assistance. You should understand that your current boss may never forgive you, so ensure you have done what you can do with him, before taking your issues up the line. Lastly, if you think the problem is that your boss can’t or won’t change, ask for a transfer to another department. If a transfer or promotion is unavailable, begin your search for a new job. Some of us are going to get a job this year, so we should be aware of these ways to handle problems with a bad boss. If you are staying the school, you can use these tips for your bossy professors.

Easy come, easy go

I am acutually kind of lazy person, so I am frequantely delay my works. However, this semester is fist time after a gap year, so I want to do my best. Preparing class, doing homework in time, and never giving up are my goals for this semester. Because of these goals, I got stress too much at first. I was tired on almost every weeks, but it was helpful to me. No matter what score I get, I am going to satisfy that because I do all that I can. During this semester, I thought that the saying “Easy come, easy go” is wholly right. When I was freshman, I didn’t study and have plan for vacation. Even, I prepare tests in the mornig. It was very terrible, and I didn’t remember what I leraned. Honestely, I don’t regret that time because it is my decision, but I know how I can use time. It depends on me! Now, I want to get my chance, so I work and study harder. From now on Easy come, easy go never be in my life

I want to recomment a Korean book named A forth of hollowness wrote by Soo Kyung Han. Actually, I didn’t read Han’s book before, so I can’t tell about writer. However, this book is great novel. There are four novels in this book, and the name A forth of hollowness is also first novel’s name in this book.  All novels’ depiction iare great and delicate. There are not any exciting events, but the composed description about  every single life is distinguished. A plain woman in this novel is sometimes pitiful, at the same time she is sort of brave person. It is hard to explain how she is special and how this book is great, but I think this book is good to dishearted woman. Even if this novel has feeble heroine and lonesome story, it is unique and makes reader grin.

Musical Lion KIng is Comming in Korea

Lion King that is one of Diseney musicals is comming in Korea in October. This musical plan to perform by Japanes dominant musical company SIKI(四季). Japanese performance is first time in Korea. Of course, all actors will be consisted of Koreans, but staff and skills will be from Japan. Historycal relationship is not good, so cultural interchange between Korea and Japan has had many difficulties. Acutally, SIKI’s representative Asari Geyta debut is hard because of objection in Korea. Also, he said, “there are about sixty Korean actors, and I want see to the great Korean acotors’ perfomance consisting with their native language in Korea.” Lion King will be performing for a year, so this musical will  be influence Korean market of musical. Asari said,”I want to skim off the bubble on Korean musical market. For that, I have three goals. First, expensive ticket costs ought to be remanage, so I decide the cost of Lion King 30% lower than usual foreign licence musicals. Second, picking competent actors, not stars who depedn on popularity. Because developing musical business, we need genuine actors who can sing and act well. Third, I will reinvest the profit to Korea.” Lion King is going to perform in first musical only theatre. Japane’ Lion KIng will be bring new wind on Korean musical system.

Sign Language

How many people have interests to learn sigh language? Sign language is real language to share someone’s thinking with another person especially deaf person. I saw the appearance at the first time in a church, I just had some interests about it. If I have a chance to touch sign language again, I decide to learn it more professionally. And then, I had learnd it with a friend of mine in the association for deaf person. At that time, I got the skill in order to share some information without any sounds. However, I attained more valuable thing, that are short consideration and lack of understanding for deaf in Korea. Unfortunately, they never feel any soft and sweet melodis of songs or sounds, so they can’t spend normal live like us. There are not only a lot of toubles in public places, but most of people have not any knowledge of sign language. In a few broadcasting with sign language for deaf person, I heard that they can’t sometimes understand about the information. I felt sorry for them owing to my unconcerned attitude before I leaned it. I wish More people would be more interested in the language.

Especially, taking a shower as well as going to bed with them was so shy situation, but I remembered exactly that is the most valuable memory in my life. Throughout the experience, I could get lot of lessons for example harmony life style with another peroson, concession and dedication something like that. I never forget the beautiful recollection.
