Yesterday I went to temple near my house with my family for celebrating Buddha’s birthday. Since, the temple was built 2years ago, we visit there first time. the distance is very short, so we walk for 15minutes. instead of taking bus and climbing mountain. After arrived, first, I was very impressed about it. It is so modern that I changed the former times image of temple. Comparing ordinary temple which general Koreans can imagine, the temple has multistory structure. Besides I couldn’t find wood material . Instead of wood, designer built with just simple strong stone. So I conclude that the exterior of a building is not traditional Korean temple. And later I enter the temple. I was shocked more. I expected I could see the sermon hall first, But there wasn’t. It is like a church or hospital. I ascended the stairs, and I enter the a big room that contains a statue of Buddha. The biggest Buddha’s statue occupied in middle, and more 300 small statues have been placed around the big one. Although the exterior is modern, the designer seemed that he/she tried to keep traditional sermon hall style. Anyway, I experienced new style of temple, I wish to come there many times.
