Examinations should be banned in the university. (assignment)

Examinations should be banned in the university. There are many exams in schools and it sometimes helps us to remember what we have learned. However, in the tendency of memorizing what the teacher highlighted or emphasized, we only focused on what we need for the exams. Therefore we probably won’t remember it later on. If we could study with joy and curiosity in school, the knowledge will never be forgotten. This is just on reason why exams should be banned in the university.

There’s another reason should be considered that students just do the temporary study which only depending on short-term memorization. The examinations cause lots of side effects students who only want to acquire a good grade.

Even worse, those students who get high grades may actually don’t understand what they have learned. Most students just stay the night before the exam and recite books. And some students feel stressful because of the lots of stuffs which should be recited before the exam. As you can see, what exams give students is that spending a lot time on recitation and get a high grade without actually learn anything. So if there’s no exams in the university, students could learn better.

MT in Korea

As a Chinese exchange student, I have experienced a Korean life for more than one month. During the past month I have been observing the way Korean live their life and analyzing differences between Korean and Chinese. And I found something interesting between the two Asia countries.

The lifestyle is very different. MT is one of the most typical parties in the Korean university life. I once joined one. We stayed the whole night enjoying traditional Korean wine and games. Even the professor, who is so honorable in class, played like a child with students. To be honest I was deeply shocked at their “craziness” at first, but later I was so moved and encouraged by the heated atmosphere that I also enjoyed a lot. This kind of recreation is incredible for Chinese students! Chinese students seldom hold parties and are kind of plain in their way of entertainment. The modern way in China is going to KTVs. But not much wine is introduced.

The difference is due to the difference between two cultures and political environment. And I found that relationship between Korean people is more closed than Chinese people. I wish in China the university life can be as exciting as in Korea.

hello everyone, something about a movie I saw recently

After I saw The Truman Show, I want to say I couldn’t help seeing the film for the second time, the third time and again and again.

The story was about Truman who was the main actor of the soap opera but he didn’t know it until he was nearly 30 years old. The creator of the television show used a great number of ways to prevent Truman from leaving Seahaven. I saw Truman experienced his father’s death and the reunion with his father after twenty years later. Truman discovered that all the people around him pretended to do their work and pretended to make a life. He felt like he was controlled by someone. Finally, he overcame the fear of water and discovered the truth by himself.

The story gave us too many things to think over. I burst into tears at last. I wonder if the real world is fake or the fake world is real. In other words, just like what the creator of the TV show said at last when he wanted to ask Truman not to leave Seahaven to the outside world, “There is no more truth out there than in the world I created for you. The same lies, the same deceit.” His voice came from the fake sky of the studios which makes me think of the God. Some time when I was a child, I once looked at the sky and thought that if our life is controlled by somebody, if somebody is up there looking at us and if all that we met and experienced is designed. It was the time that I began to realize that there were lies in this world. So Truman’s life was really a tragedy in my eyes. When he finally asked, “Was anything real?” and the creator said, “You were real. That’s what made you so good to watch…” A real man in a fake world pursued the real world with his last words, “In case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!” His last smile made me believe that though the world is full of lies and deceit, I am real.

As we grow up, all of us may find that we are deceived by someone and we may begin to find so many people are not real. They will never let other people know their real thought. They pretend to be kind and generous; on the contrary, they are cold-hearted and selfish. So we wonder how we can live in such a world that nothing is real. And now I accept the reality that the fake world is the real one. There must be lies in it but I am real and my heart is genuine. I prefer to believe that there must be the same people  who are real to me, to their friends and to the whole world.

The Truman Show told me that everybody is an actor or an actress in the life stage. Sometimes we may find in the stage of life, we are tired of dealing with so many fake people and fake things. But what we should remember is we are real man. If a fake world is full of real man, it will be a real world.
