Importance of pronunciation!

This semester I am taking Second Language Acquisition class. I like to mention about pronunciation. In Grammar-Translation Method pronunciation isn’t important, but I don’t agree. I had chance to talk with foreigners who were from various countries. There were Japanese, Maxican, Brazilian, German, and France. Whenever I convered with Brazilian, he said “Pardon? I don’t undertand what are you saying.” I wondered why he didn’t understand my speaking. Especially, I was also hard to understand Brazilian pronunciation. I believe accent and pronunciation aren’t important to talk with natives, but I recognized that correct pronunciation is important to converse with non-natives. I don’t know where my pronunciation level is, but I know I should practice more to speak without barrier. I think there’s no way to pronounce well except listeing and speaking. I like watching American movies, drama, and English tapes. These will help me to pronounce exactly. And then, imitating natives’ pronunciation will be next thing I should do. Unless I speak, my incorrect pronunciation will not be changed. I hope that I could talked with others without pronuciation barrier as I experienced before.

I am always worried about my bad pronunciation. Then, I am sometimes confused, and I feel shy in front of other people.
I try to correct my pronunciation, but it is very hard for me.
