Recently recreational games such as horse-racing or casino have taken deep root in society. These games, which were originally supposed to be a source of amusement turned into a source of destruction. Although the possibility of winning is relatively high, the risk is just as high.
In the meanwhile, lotteries, which are similar to those gamblings, are safer in that the players don’t have to put all their eggs in one basket. A number of countries around the world are using lotteries as a major source of income, and the low risk imposed on individuals is the main reason for that. It’s a well known fact that the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House, Sidney’s prides, were built on the income obtained by lotteries.
Still the negative effects of lotteries are not negligible. The core of the problem is that they undermine our common-sense belief: Work hard and you’ll get paid for it. Lotto, another type of lottery whose prize is stunningly huge, is distorting people’s thoughts and ideas as to how they should earn money. Gradually, lotto, a distorted gambling, should be abolished lest the general social atmosphere should be ruined by it.
