I don’t belive superstitions
I don’t believe widespread superstitions. Our world is more getting developed, and globalized so, we can almost predict everything in the world. However, Some of Korean still believe strongly their superstitions even though there are no well-grounded reasons. If I hear that kind of things, I feel they have anachronic mind. Korea have a lot of superstitions.
For example, if you eat seaweed soup, you will fail the exam, don’t cut your nails at night and don’t write your name using a red pencil. I think first one is just seaweed surface is so slippery so our ancestors believed it. And long time ago passing exam is really difficult, even though they prepared exam well so they barely passed the exam that’s why they thought like that. And second one is more ridiculous because people thought if some mouse eat your nails, they turn to you. And then will kill you because they want to be you.? Isn’t it funny? I can’t figure it out. And I think third one is our forefather believed red color looks like blood. When I was young, I like red color so I wrote my name every my note used red color and then one of my class mates said, “your mother is going to die.” At that time I was so shocked, I couldn’t remember to ask the reason, I just accepted it and cried a lot.
Actually I have bad experiences in this kind of stupid superstition recently. I bought t-shirt in some store one years ago. But when I came home and put this shirt on. I just wanted to change. Because that color doesn’t suit me. After that day I went to the store to change the t-shirt, and then a clothes store seller said, “we can’t change it.” I was so surprised so I asked, “why?” and she said, “because if I change your t-shirt, we hardly sell our clothes. But she said, I could change the t-shirt in the afternoon.
After that, I suddenly remember some stupid superstition, I am a woman so I can’t change t-shirt in the morning because some people think it brings bad luck.
What do you think? if you read this essay, I think you agree my opinion. I think if we want to be improving and developing we should get rid of our stupid thinking related in superstitions in our mind. Now we are living in 21century, if you still believe stupid superstitions now. you are going to go backward.
