Vietnam Special Roll and Gujeolpan.
I went to a Photai restaurant which is a special vietnamese rice noodle store in Myungdong with my partner.
Because I’ve ever eaten a vietnamese rice noodle, I should try other things. While I took a look at the menu, my partner and I ware at a loss which food to eat. We wanted to choose something special we’ve never eaten before. Finally we chose the food, whose name is Vietnam Special Roll. It looks like korean traditional food, Gujeolpan.
Vietnam Special Roll is appetizing and nourishing food.
The price is 20,000 won for small. The reason I mention it is that when a waiter brought our order, I thought the price was far higher than anticipated. Because it was not a cooked food. I mean that the ingredient was almost raw stuff except the small size of shrimp and beef . The food has 14 ingredients which are cucumber, radish pickle, onion, leek, green pepper, etc. The fourteen ingredients which is cut same length are arranged in a round plate and there is a kind of pancake on other dish. The pancake is not real but looks like it. Because it is thin and solid, before we eat, we soke in hot water. And then it becomes so soft that we can put the ingredients on it and roll it like Kim-bob. It is really not only plain and simple but also delicious. It is never oily and totally well-being food.
Gujeolpan is similar as Vietnam Special Roll. Especially, the shape of those foods almost looks same. Taste is also very similar. The difference is the number of ingredients. As Gujeolpan is korean traditional food, it should have 9 ingredients which are some seafood, beef and several boiled vegetables. And the way to eat is little bit different. When we eat it, we don’t need hot water, because the pancake to roll and eat is boiled.
The shape of Vietnam Special Roll is similar as Gujeolpan’s. I was surprised when I found there was similar food in Vietnam. Both of them are traditional food and very nutritious.
