PAC & Black Panther Party
When I was searching for the Sharpe ville uprising, I happened to remember the Black Panther Party’s activities in USA. It doesn’t seem to be relevant, but when you look into it carefully, there’s a connection between them.
First of all, two events were performed by black people. And also, because the massacre in Sharpe ville, ANC decided to use violence against Apartheid system, or white ruling class. Before this event, ANC insisted that it is important they don’t use any armed power. However, they changed their mind and PAC(Pan Africanist Congress) was made out of ANC. The members and the ultimate goal against Apartheid is almost same, but PAC is a lot like Black Panther Party and how it was treated by ruling government in S.A and the US. Both groups are formed in order to be self-defense, and they want to be free from barrier which caused by racism. Not only these two groups are familar in that they are armed organization, also they have each influenced on the movements. One is Black Consciousness Movement & Black Power Movement.
These two movements were for enlightening people from poor condition of their education and want people to think about the situation that they are facing. Black Consciousness were aggressively acting on apartheid society and urged to be changed upon the religion, Christianity. And also the Black Power Movement wanted to inspire black people to be more rationalized and be aware of what is happening around them. Generally, the blacks are illiterate and not much educated, so most of the people don’t know how to deal with some accidents when they are treated badly. They just let them flow and they watch as it goes. Nevertheless these two movements were struggling to make the black status better, they somehow not succeeded well enough.
