Have you seen a swimmer who didn’t know how to swim freestyle? Or have you seen a golfer who didn’t know how to grab golf? Of course, I sure you cannot see these people. It is weird to think. Moreover, we already know that everything should be supported strong basics. There is old wise saying, “Knowledge is power.� If I want to get something, I should know what it is clearly. In the same way when I write, especially, I have to know which skills I want to get about my writing. Accordingly, what I know hope in my writing is very important.
In my case, actually, I want to become an international trade specialist after graduation. A trader is a person trade in goods or stocks with other countries. They should have writing skills to analyze other counties and should know how to persuade them. Accordingly, I should have logical writing skills. Besides, sentences in my writing have to be simple and clear. I think that these skills similar with business writing because it is more formal writing than daily writing.
There are various ways that I can develop these skills. First of all, I have to read lots of books about business. In the library, there are so various books about that. Otherwise, I also can ask about proper reference books from professor in a related major. Moreover, I have to read many articles about international trade. After I read that, I should try to apply to different situations. According to this exercise, I can know what terms used and how those apply in specific business situation.
Actually, I already know about above things. Nevertheless, when I look back on my writing again or my daily life, I can find that there are not improvements yet. Without a doubt, I have to read lots of things steadily from now on. Accordingly, every day, I will try to read many articles about business without distinction of Korean and English. And then, maybe I can study sentence structure about academic writing. Also, I will try to write free writing as many as possible. I think that these things can improve my writing skills.
