I watched a video clip in youtube . In the clip , a man came out of the closet. and said “If you are gay, you don’t need to hide your homosexuality.

I was surprised of his brave. I think even though  it is America, still the society is   not generous to gays or lesbians .That’s why many gays  live  without showing their homosexuality openly, I think. So the man in the clip I found  must have expected negative responses of people who will see his clip But he did came out of closet through Youtobe with brave

  1. I really love C.S.I. which is one of the famous American criminal drama. There, I saw a lot of crimes committed by people who hate “others” like gay, lasbian, black, Asian. It looks like Americans are more generous on that problams but the truth is, still, many people assault, attack even kill the “others” It was very brave of him to do that but I’m a little bit worried about him.

  2. Well, Eun Suk, remember — CSI is a drama about solving murders using science. You’re going to see a lot of, um, killing on that show. Kind of like you shouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of kissing and sweet talk in a romantic drama. It’s just part of the genre!

    There is intolerance in America for “others,” but honestly, that exists in Korea, too, and it can sometimes be quite violent here as well. The main difference, it seems to me, is that guns are more uncommon here, so the violence doesn’t escalate to the point of murder so easily.

    I wouldn’t worry for the guy. There are tons of openly gay people in North America today. Hate crimes sometimes do happen, but not very often anymore.

  3. I think discrimination and hatred against gays are much higher in Korea than in America. In Korea, they can’t even show themselves among public. Koreans don’t know that there are not many gays in Korea or they even haven’t think about gays in their life. That’s why we can’t see visable events of discrimination and hatred against gays. Oh! there was one case , according to my memory, that one famous actor came out and had very hard time losing his job.
