Long time ago, a lot of babies died beyond a hundred days. Because at that time, Medical science wasn’t developed in korea. So, Korean people celebrate the baby’s one hundredth day. For that day, we prepare special rice cakes. It’s ‘Beakseolgi’ and ‘Soosoopaddeuck’.
‘Beakseolgi’ is white rice cake, and it means baby’s innocence. ‘Soosoopaddeuck’ is made of red beans, and it’s red. We believed the ghost who take baby’s life is scared of red things and red beans. Next, We have a meal with relatives, and we pray baby’s long life.

I didn’t remember my hundredth day. But anyway I think it is a good traditional ceremony. I have gone many ceremonay to my relatives. Whenever I participated that I had a fun time.
I really think so. We didn’t have a lot of food and medicine long time ago. As we followed tradition about One Hundredth Day’celebration, we could have rece cake and special food with relative. Also we believed to send away the ghost the legendary three founders of Korea as we celebrate about it.
