‘The entire carcass of cattle not inspected and passed for human consumption is also prohibited unless the cattle are less than 30 months of age, or the brains and spinal cords have been removed’ was one of the contents of negotiation. I think nowaday’s conflict was originated because of the misunderstanding of the word ‘unless’ in the content. Instead of traslating it as ‘even if’ they should have translated it into ‘if not’. This is common sense to the people who have studied in the English education curriculums in Korea. At least, that negotiation was handled by those we usually say well-educated people. Who is in charge with it? Is it the one who mistranslated or the USA who used the word ’unless’ ? The president Lee is losing his credit and the situation is getting worse. The government should step on the right and reasonable process to make the citizens live in their country without the fear of the ‘Mad Cow’. Not anymore. It took so long.
We should ban a corporal punishment at home. Actually, the government made a child abuse criminalized, but the problem is, we can’t find out whether the case is the child abuse or not. In Korea traditionally, there’s a saying, ‘Don’t interrupt other family’s business’,but the thing is that, we still interrupt when their parents behave suspiciously. As you know, it’s hard for children to call the police by themselves. So, children might just remain as the victim. Some says that the most of the corporal punishment don’t case the child abuse but the rate of the actual child abuse is keep increasing. So, corporal punishment should be banned to profect children from a child abuse.
However, some others say that, parents can give corporal punishment in Korea. The reasons are mainly because, a children don’t reconsider their behavior just by the conversation. Actually, some people say it’s a child abuse and causes the violence. But any way, in this situation, a corporal punishment can be useful because they are aware that they can be painful if they do the same thing again. And also, the important thing is that, the degree of punishment should be controlled. By doing that, a corporal punishment will lead the children to the right direction.
There was same situation like the Tibet’s protest nowadays 49years ago. On the same day of 10th of March, over 3million people were gathered at ‘Lasa’, the capital of Tibet and they demonstrated against being incorporated in China. The people’s Liberation army used tanks to control them. And finally they were suppressed by military power and be settled as part of China’s territory.
Why doesn’t China let Tibet to remain as a separate nation? Tibet is located at the highest plateau and called as ‘The roof of the world’. This land has the lot of natural resources such as diamond, magnesium and irons and so on. It is estimated that this land’s economical value is enormous. And their strategic value of army is also high. The reason is, their geographical position has a great advantage of building down and developing the weapons. And China can’t give up taking this country because it’s location is a buffer zone between China and India. Also, If China let Tibet to be independent, over fifty other minority races will also ask for their independence. Anyway, by all these reasons, China has evaded and oppressed them.
In order to come up the solutions that are best for the both, is to grasp the essential point of the situation. The main reason that Tibetan were faced with this event, was not because of the discrimination of human rights nor the poverty. It was not just the struggle for the independence. It was their expression of anger and a long series of hatred that has remained in their heart for a long time. Their culture and religion has been ignored and the Beijing haven’t been minded the sensitivity of to Tibetan culture.
They should stop oppressing Tibetan’s own culture, religion and their traditions and stop using the military forces. They should solve and compromise by conversation. And they should respect Tibetan’s democracy and respect fo men’s life and dignity which is very basic and universal. I hope it settles by peacefully and without delay to see no more victims.
