Kimbob and California Roll
There is a fashion in food. Does it sound strange? If so, let’s think about it. Some years ago, Bul-dak was the most popular food so there were so many Bul-dak restaurants. Nowadays, Roll food is so popular. The cafeteria in my school also follows the fashion of food. They made a new menu, California Roll, because it was the fashion and students wanted. However, strangely, both I and my partner Jin-sung had never eaten the California roll so we tasted it in the cafeteria comparing with Kim-bob.
First of all their appearances are so similar. Both Kim-bob and California roll are long, cylindrical and wrapped with some vegetables and rice. In addition, there are so many kinds of Roll and Kim-bob such as cheese Kim-bob, bacon roll and so on.
When I saw the California roll at first, I thought its taste would be same as Kim-bob because of their appearances. But it was a little bit different. Kim-bob is salty and glutinous, while the Roll is sweet and fresh. The Roll is put a unique sauce and spawn. Except the flavor, people recognize them differently. People think the Kim-bob is very convenient and easy to eat and they usually take the Kim-bob for a picnic. Otherwise the Roll food is thought as a meal. People find a good restaurant to eat the Roll food but go to the nearest restaurant to eat the Kim-bob.
It was great to eat delicious food with a good friend, Jin-sung. And the California roll will be my favorite from now on.
