During a preparation of the final project, I realized how we can break the law easily.

I downloaded many films to find out the exact movie that I need to make my final project. The one I chose was the Butterfly Effect and I downloaded more than five films before my decision. Some people would say that I abide by the law since I paid a small portion of money. However, we all know that the small portion of money that I paid is not for the film producing company. The money was for the usage of the service to download.

When Gord asked us about the copyright of our final project that result of our effort, I thought that I would not happy with ‘stealing’ even I remixed it. If someone doesn’t ask me for a permit to make a remixing based on my work, it would hurt my feeling. It could be much better though. I’m sure that I would mind when someone try to change what I have done without permission  because I spend lots of time to do my best.

“The result of my effort” made me to feel what people who have been stolen their intellectual properties would feel. My project was really shot, so that it took me about a week, but it was really good experience to put myself in others’ shoes. 

   Mad cow disease aroused keen public controversy in Korea. It gets worse and demonstrations became violent as time goes by. I agree that mad cow disease is a big problem since Koreans eat all the parts of cow even bones. 

However, I’m really worrying about the demonstrations that held almost everyday at Gwanghwamun because many people get hurts. The center of the demonstration is combat policemen who are called into the army. They are abused since they treat people severly. Media also report that combat policemen how suppressed disarmed people who took a part in the demonstrations.  

   My brother spend two years as a combat policeman, so I could understand the way the policemen treat people. I’m not telling you what combat policemen did was good, I’m telling you that we should take another aspect of view. Media try to stress their cruelty no matter what happened. Half of the injured who reported through media are combat policemen and they also feel threat since they can’t suppress people without an order from above. Some of them usually deadly hurted from the people who demonstrate.

   I wouldn’t know either if my brother wasn’t there. I agree that the combat policemen are sometimes severe, but I want people to feel sympathy what they are doing.

All Koreans who waited all night to watch Ji Sung Park on May 22 were really disappointed because his name was not on the list of Champions League final. Since Ferguson mentioned about participation of Ji sung in the final, most of people who expected Ji Sung’ would be able to play during the final. Unfortunately, Ferguson decided not to put Ji sung’s name on the list, even Ji Sung didn’t have a seat on the bench to cheer his team.

Many Koreans include me complain about Ferguson’s behavior because he suggested on an interview that Ji Sung deserves participating in the final. Moreover, he contributed to his team for the final. That’s why many dailies expected Ji Sung as one of the starters, so local dailies were also surprised that Ji Sung couldn’t participate. 

On the other hand, I think that we are overacting. Ji Sung said that he is OK with team’s victory, but we speak for him and complain about his leader. He is rather working on another goal of his life than depressing. I believe that we should cheer him again instead of grumbling over Ferguson.  What will you choose?

 Have you heard about the TV program, “we are married”? It’s a kind of reality show that records celebrities’ imaginary marriages. People are having fun to watching the celebrities’ marriage that they imagined before and I’m the one of them who enjoys watching the program. However, others say that it has many problems since it became a popular program.

 First of all, people say that it can be a problem since the celebrities are easy to get divorce from their imaginary marriages. The marriage is not a real and that means they wouldn’t be serious as they do in real life. Moreover, their behaviors influence on juveniles, so that juveniles could consider marriage lightly.

 Since the program is a focus of people in public, the events that prepared for women are controversial. Women who watch the program dream about the events that happens in the program though it is not popular in real life. That’s why men hate to watch the program because most women expect the same thing to their boy friends.

 However, I enjoys the program since it makes me to dream about the same things that happen in the program including events. Nevertheless, the problem that I mentioned first could be problem if it really affects on teenagers. How do you think?

I’ve watched a movie, The Bucket List. It’s about two men who lived totally different life, but they meet in a hospital because they are suffered from cancer. Since they are in the same sick room, they get to know each other then start to make a list that they really want to do before their death. the list they make in the movie is called ‘The bucket list’ and it is derived from a saying ‘Kick the bucket’.

When I decided to watch the movie, I didn’t really mean to look back on the past. However, as they try to finish on their bucket list, I started to think about my bucket list. I’m just 22 years old, but I don’t really think that I’d be able to do everything for the rest of my life. Since I like to avoid other’s attention, I don’t really do whatever I want to do though it’s the only chance for me to live in the world.

We usually say that we should live every second with our best try at our lives. Do you think that you’re doing your best on your life? for every second?

 I’m sure that you know well about Yuna Kim, a famous figurer in Korea. Recently, I read an article about her. According to the article, she said that she felt aggrieved at people who were calling her name while she practiced. The important thing was that she was practicing with other figurers when people called her name to take a photographs of her. She said that she was so sorry that she was there since they would have been able to concentrate on their practices if she hadn’t been there.

 Before I read the article about her, I thought she would be happy to be the center of people’s attention because she often appears on the television including commercial films or show programs. Moreover, she is just treated as a star, so that people nicknamed her ‘A figure fairy’. However, she wasn’t happy that much contrary to my expectation. She asked people to let her concentrate on her practice since she is not a monkey in a zoo. I believe that her aim must be a international figurer, not a star who should be in attention of the public. I feel sorry that she is obviously under a lot of stress because of her popularity that she doesn’t want to have.

  Today I watched a TV show named “Starking” that many people with surprising abilities appear. Since next Monday is ‘Children’s Day’, the program specially focused on children with amazing abilities. Actually, many children were surprised me but the most remarkable child was a sightless girl. She was able to play piano even thought she was born with trouble.

  However, I wasn’t happy with the program when she finished performance. The program focused overly on the fact that she is a handicapped person. When she appeared on the stage, they turn on a sentimental music and that seemed to me they were trying to make people to feel sympathy for her.

  Truly, I feel pity for handicapped people because they can’t enjoy their life as we do. Overcoming difficulties that seems impossible leads people to challenge anything that was harsh to them. In this sense, the handicapped people’s lives can be better than us since they usually overcome their troubles like the one who I saw on the TV.

  We should help them, but it doesn’t mean that we should feel sorry for what happened to them.

  What would you do if you have an extraordinary power that others don’t have? These days, i’m watching “Heroes” that caused a great sensation in America. Though I’m on season1, most of people who started to watch the drama has finished season2, and they are waiting for the next.

  The characters in the drama are really fascinating, so that I dream of having the power as they have. The most attractive power that I want to have is healing. A cheerleader named Claire has the power, so that she never get hurt. Even she are dead, she can return to life when the cause of her death is removed. Isn’t it amazing? However, the heroes consider their power separately from our thoughts.

  As I watching the drama, I realized there are always two sides to every matter whether we don’t like it. I mean, there is nothing that is just good or bad. The characters want to live normally as they did before finding their specialities, but they can’t. Moreover, the events that happens around them are not strange and they suffer from them.

  Have you watched “Heores”? If you can choose a power among form the heroes, what would you like to have? Why?

 In short, the article reports that a film production company restricted pressmen not to ask any questions about racism. Since Korean gangs appear on the movie, the company expected that pressmen would ask about the racism on their movie. I do care how Korean described on movies, so I’m happy with it, too.

 However, we talked about ‘stereotype’ in a class that I take this semester. I learned that lack of information leads to stereotype on something. I believe that racism that we express through media  is also a part of stereotype caused by lack of information.

  On the other hand, we are able to get much information since foreigners live next to us. Many people are going abroad to live there or getting a job and they settle down together to build up their communities including Korea town, China town. All these things that happening around us could help us to understand foreigners’ culture, so that we can be friends with them.

  As I said, we have more chance to understand each other, but why don’t we stop misunderstanding? 

Do you remember the salesman who sung a vocal music? After I watched him in our class, I was so impressed by him that I couldn’t forget him.

 Recently, I found an advertisements that publicizes the concert of Paul Potts in Korea. It’s kind of surprising that he will hold a world tour concert since he was a salesmen in 2007. He became a worldwide vocalist in one year!! What he would do, if he didn’t challenge “Britain’s Got Talent”? I believe that the program really helped him to attain what he wanted to be. Though he suffered from many difficulties in his life to make his dream come true, he wouldn’t be able to be a vocalist with his talent. Of course, the program was a kind of helper that brought up the good result from trials of his life, but the helper was essential for the success.

 Everybody say that television has lots of disadvantages. Nevertheless, television also has advantages and the advantages lead some people to reversal of life as Paul potts experienced. Paul potts made me to think about strong points that mass media have. The thing seems impossible can be possible through mass media. Have you thought about the good points of mass media? what are they?
