Elementary Composition – Night

This site is a group effort by the students in Gord's Elementary Composition evening course at Catholic University!

FTA with singapore

Korea and Singapore settled on Free Trade Agreement last year. And it will be in effect this summer. Would that benefit Korea’s economy recovery. Would that helpful or harmful? The reade transaction between Korea and Singarpore is not big as much as U.S or China. As comare with the other country, transaction between Korea and Singapore is too small. Although the FTA is in effect, it cannot give any significant influence on Korea economy as much as I can calculating whether it’s helpful or not.

How were U today?

Hi~ I just finished my part-time job and came back home now.Today I made a mistake on duty. So I was ashamed then. And I thought I was foolish. But I finished my job earlier than other days. I feel so good~and  I’m so tired now.I have to wake up early tomorrow morning… I’m worried about that. Because I slept yesterday at 4 am. Anyway, I’m ssoooo tired today. How were you today? ‘ㅡ’

comic books

Mr. Gord~

Do U like comic books? I love comic books~♡ What kind of comic books do u like?

I start to read the comic book when I was 11 years old. I think I read “dragonball” first.

I had been crazy for comic books until I was high school student. So I didn’t study at all and my grade was so bad. I think my mom doesn’t want me to read comic books now and forever.^^;

I can’t stop reading comic books forever.!!!

But  I can’t read books well because there is no 책방 nearby my home.ㅠㅠ

CLASS TIME CHANGE… NOT YET.

Hi everyone. I know I asked you to check this blog for an announcement about a class time change for our class.

I have some good news, and some not-so-good news. Which would you like to hear first? I guess maybe the good news first will be best: I found out that it is possible to change time. We can do it, IF we are sure that ALL students can attend at the new time.

Which brings me to the not-so-good news: we need to make sure that there’s no schedule problem for ANYONE who is attending the class, including students who were not in class on Wednesday. So I am going to ask the class two more times if there is anyone who has a problem with a schedule change for Monday. I’ll ask Monday and Wednesday this week, and if nobody has a problem, then I think we can move the class time.

So this means that for this week, there is no change in Monday’s classtime. I’ll see you all at 8:45pm this Monday, March 20th, okay?

Happy birthday~

It was my birthday the day before yesterday. But I was very busy because I had to get ready to make the speech. At that time, there was a party in the department of English Language and Culture. I wanted to stay longer but I had to leave early because I had another meeting. When I was about to leave there, my school mates went to see me off to the station. Suddenly, “happy birthday Mi-yeon~” and another my friends showed up, holding a cake and present in their hands. I was very surprised by them. I was so happy. The present was a wristwatch. It was so pretty.

Gloomy sunday-

Hi~ guys~ How are you today?  I am really bad. Because I had a cold and a little fever. The worse thing, this cold will be worse. But I can’t see a doctor. Because my parents really don’t like medicine. When I asked for money to parents, they said. “You’d better stand. Medicine is bad for you.” And they didn’t give some money. It’s terrible~!! And even our baseball team lost in this game~! It made me worse. Today is truly gloomy sunday to me. Anyway should be careful cold~! And see you next time. I wish I became get better. Bye~

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

You guys are doing a great job! I’m very impressed. I am waiting before I post individual comments, because I don’t want to make people nervous about posting. But I will make a couple of notes for you guys and the other Elementary Writing Class Blog, just some general notes of things I’ve noticed.

First, a lot of people like to use smilies. Western smilies look like :) or ;) . I know some Korean smilies are different, using Hangeul letters or carets, like this: ^^ … But since we’re practicing academic writing, it’s better to avoid these things. Also, in academic writing, we wouldn’t write kkk (or, in English, Hahaha or LOL). As I said, this is okay in comments, but I know you can find other ways of expressing that feeling in English. Usually, I write something like, “That’s so funny!” or “That’s hilarious!” Try it!

Second: everyone please rememeber, we’re working on paragraphs. You should try to bring all the sentences together in paragraph blocks, like I am doing. Don’t write single lines disconnected. Put your sentences together into paragraphs!

Third: keep blogging! You’re doing a good job and I am honestly enjoying reading your posts!
