An argument in library
A few days ago, I read a news article that says about some female students who wear a mini-skirt when they come to library to study and it has become an issue on internet. Actually, it was ranked top so many people talked their opinion very compatitively.
As you know, most of every korean are conservative a little so there are many opinions against the fact that female students are okay to come to the library when they wear extrmely tight and short skirt. I agree with one particular reason.
Rather, I would like to ast the female students why they wear too short skirt even when they study during on exam. I don’t know their purpose. I think their attitude is not enough to study. They wear a skirt even weather is damn cold! Wearing a mini skirt is uncomfortable to study for a long time so they couldn’t concerntrate on theit study.
I think the most important reason is that it causes a problem to men. I don’t think men can deny to see that female students’s skirt and it could disturb men’s study. I-as a woman- also could see the skirt, and you know, how visual guys are! It’s obvious. Exposure of skin could stimulate men’s curious. Men are probably 20s age so how could they concerntrate on their study even when hotties walking around the library! It is impossible if they are not monks or Jesus.
Wearing a mini skirt is pretty and cute but I want to female students not to wear a short skirt when they come to library to study. It is not a rule, but it is a manner.
Ha! Meejee, thanks for posting about such an interesting topic! You should see how it looks from the teacher’s point of view. When I was very young, in Montreal, I discovered that students in the classes I taught often dressed like they were going to a nightclub, except it was 2pm and they were in a writing class.
The boys never got any work done, and I have to admit that sometimes even I, as a young man, was distracted — and more than one student was doing it on purpose! One girl used to tease the boy sitting next to her with her legs, and some of the other students and I noticed it. It was hilarious, but what a waste of her and his education!
But it’s funny, because what you mean when you say “short skirt” and what I mean are two completely different things. I’ve only rarely seen skirts in Korea that I’d consider extremely short. This makes me think that guys probably can concentrate on their studies… if they want to badly enough. I think it’s better men learn to control where they are looking, instead of telling women what to wear. After all, maybe women are wearing short skirts because it could give them a comparative academic advantage, over the guys who are silly enough to let this distract them? Who knows? It might be a smart strategy in a competitive academic system.
But like you, I wonder how some students can wear shorter skirts in cold weather. It always amazes me how, when I am cold in a jacket and corduroy pants, some young women are wearing skirts and their bare legs are exposed to the wind. I’d be crying from the pain of being so cold, I tell you.
In any case, I want to remind you that you should be careful about how you use singular and plural. There are a few examples in your post, but a good one is in the last sentence:
Unless all those female students are sharing one skirt, then “a short skirt” is a problem. Also, you should use a comma before “but”, just as we studied in class. So I’d write this:
(I changed a few more things, too, and you can see what they are if you look closely.)
Now, as an exercise, try rewrite this paragraph with special attention to singular and plural subjects and objects matching where appropriate.
