Yes, you are indeed the first student to post here. Congratulations! By the way, the proper spelling of the word is “blog”. It’s short for “web-log”, as in
weblog. It’s a weird little word, and many people don’t like the way it sounds.And yeah, it’s really cold! I hate the cold weather, but I hate hot weather more. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more posts and comments here. Come on, everyone, don’t be shy! And congratulations again on being the first to post here!

I think the word blog sounds weird to anglophones mostly because it’s a new word. Also, perhaps, because it sounds like the word “bog”, which is a slightly unusual word, more common in British English, which means something like “swamp”. All I know is that “blog” does sound like a weird word to me, and to many people I know…
